This House Believes That Science Is Better Than The Humanities

Since the creation of human knowledge, only one important conundrum has consistently divided academia and been left completely and utterly unresolved. Now the Manchester Debating Union will settle the argument once and for all. Come along for what will hopefully be an entertaining, passionate and civilized debate about the the ultimate question facing humankind; Is Science better than the Humanities?

The result is determined by audience vote, so make sure you win. Rally to the cause! Muster your course-mates!

Professor Niels Walet – Theoretical physicist who has served on numerous Institute of Physics boards.

Professor Helen Beebee – Philosopher and President Elect of the British Society for the Philosophy of Science

–Opposition–

Professor Linda Merrick – Musician and Principal of the Royal Northern College of Music

Dr Stephen De Wijze – Senior Lecturer in Political Theory at UoM, co-editor of Representation and multiple award winning academic.
