Welcome to the Manchester Debating Union

The Manchester Debating Union (MDU) is the home of free speech and debate for all Universities in Manchester. We hold public debates every week featuring high profile journalists, politicians and academics. Debates are on a wide range of topics; from Economics to Feminism, Philosophy to International Relations. We also hold Debating Workshops, giving our members the opportunity to build their debating skills and attend competitive debating competitions in both the UK and abroad.

Term Card: Autumn 2014.

Training takes place 5pm Tuesday in Rm 4.4 Roscoe Building. Public debates generally take place at 5pm on Thursday in the Samuel Alexander Lecture Theatre, in the Samuel Alexander Building. See our calendar for more details.

We predominantly use the mdunion Facebook group to relay information regarding events and competitions.
